knitting kits and patterns
ak has developed a complete range of knitting and needlework kits – each designed around the concept of dressing a hand-made felt doll. Everything you need is included in our kits – even the doll. We offer versions suitable for both novices and experienced knitters. See knitting kits etc for more information.
For use in workshops and to accompany some kits, we produce an easily understood guide to knitting and needlework entitled, ‘Dinara’s new clothes’. This useful 45 page book contains clearly written ‘how to knit’ instructions together with a series of achievable projects designed to build your skills as you dress your doll – using our instructions, experiment with embroidery and traditional embellishments like tassels and go on to produce a complete wardrobe from the additional patterns we provide.
‘Dinara’s new clothes’ is available separately. If you are already a confident knitter, ak knitting patterns provide you with well fitting, easily constructed clothes that can be adapted to create individual designs. Each pattern contains several options relating to collars and trims – ak offers a range of our own crocheted and knitted wool trims to finish your garments. We sell Rowan yarns, Ford Barton Wensleydale organically grown and naturally dyed wool, and the complete range of Jo Sharp wool and cotton.
Colour cards with real yarn are available and can make selection of dolls clothes or wool a breeze – we suggest you order a full set.
